Twenty teams have been selected to compete in the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon in 2011. All of the teams will design and build small solar-powered homes that are also affordable, energy-efficient, and attractive. The Solar Decathlon began in 2002 and has been held biennially in 2005, 2007, and 2009. This upcoming event will take place in fall 2011.
Below are the design concepts for the 2011 competition. Learn more about the DOE’s Solar Decatlon.
The competition would be more meaningful (and challenging) if there was a requirement for universal design.
