2010 was a great year for the tiny house movement. Many newcomers found us through numerous main stream news stories. A lot of new blogs have popped up too, which is wonderful to see. I especially love to find owner-builders recording their projects through blogging.
Here at Tiny House Design we we had another big growth year receiving over 1 million visits and 3 million page views. The chart below shows the incredible influx of new visitors we had in July 2010 when Jay Shafer was featured on the Yahoo homepage for several days. Here’s what everyone was most interested in reading:

Clearly I need to spend more time in 2011 publishing tiny house plans and building a couple of my tiny house concepts. Highest on my list are the 12×24 House Plans and the Tiny Simple House plans. I’ve also need to build myself a tiny house home office which will either be a variation of Nine Tiny Feet or this Lightweight Tiny House Concept. It turns out that I don’t need to move the Tiny Free House, so hopefully I can make 2011 the year I finish her up too.
Dang… I’m going to be busy. I hope you can tag along for the ride. Happy New Year!
What this makes extra clear is that the issues that are most important are really not suited to quick blog-answers. Some of these posts, like “Locating Land for Tiny Houses ” have promising titles, but no one person can answer this question adequately at this point in time. It’s a few ideas, sure, but I have many times heard and read many other ideas, and posted a number on my blog, which goes beyond this.
That’s why I started the wiki: http://tinyhouses.wikia.com/wiki/Tinyhouses_Wiki
Oh well, scattered posts are better than nothing, but I wish we could find them more easily through google. That’s a real problem, having info scattered everywhere where no one can really find it….
The link to Top 10 number 2, How to Build, is going to Getting off grid instead.
I’m enjoying this list and planning for our tiny retirement!
Hi Michael, It’s fun to see the top 10 of 2010.
I was just curious to know how Palladio’s Escape
Cottage ranked as concerning the number of views.
This year I’ve been busy building several more
cabins of different styles and sizes. I’m working
on the purchase of a tract of land to start a
small grouping of cabins. We’ll finally be able
to build Palladio all the way to completion.
Thanks so much for your interest and support!
Very fun indeed to see the to 10 of 2010. From the looks of it across the web 2011 will be just as busy for the tiny house movement in 2011. Just as Rick Newcomer is building a tiny house so are we at BlakesTinyHouse.com.
Thanks to everybody who has visited us so far and for your support!
Congrats on the great year! Best in 2011- and thanks for all the help! Hope you’re well Michael!
