A friggebod is a Swedish shed or more technically a standalone adjunct building of up to 15.0 square meters. There are actually three sheds here sitting on an old railway bridge and two of them are on wheels and can be rolled away from the ‘wet’ building across the bridge for more privacy. Little Houses on the Black River was a collaboration between Parsons, St. Etienne School of Art and Design in France, and the Konstfack University College of Arts, Craft and Design in Stockholm.
These little flatpack buildings are also designed for to be easily assembled and disassembled. As you can see every little design detail was considered on the interior and exterior and it’s no wonder that this student project won the 2006 Best Design School Project Award at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF).
