Paul Elkins is an inventive fellow. His latest experiment was to take Vinay Gupta’s Hexayurt design and reshape it into a pyramid. Rigid foam sheathing panels form the lightweight structure; duct tape and some wood help hold it together.
To test the strength of the design Paul set it up on his roof for two months where it was subjected to high winds. It held up like a champ and should make an ideal home at Burning Man 2011.
Nice work Paul! It really inspires me to experiment with foam and ultralight construction methods.
