Starting on September 18, 2011, Dee Williams and Paul Hanke will be teaching a 12-day tiny house workshop at the Yestermorrow Design/Build School in Warren, Vermont. Here’s a part of the course description:
In this intensive course, students will spend mornings and afternoons building a small house on wheels, including framing, interior and exterior finishes, insulation, and possibly plumbing and wiring. Evenings will be spent in the design studio, where students will contemplate how to efficiently utilize space as they create drawings, plans and models for their own tiny houses.
Dee Williams is well known in the wider tiny house community as one of the first to build and live in a Tumbleweed designed tiny house. Dee also owns Boxcar Woodcraft, a small woodworking business located in Olympia Washington and is the co-founder of Portland Alternative Dwellings (PAD) in Portland, Oregon.
Paul Hanke is an architectural designer, writer (Fine Homebuilding and elsewhere), and experienced instructor. His most recent project was a dragon-shaped house.
The cost of the workshop is $1,520 with a $50 materials fee. For more information visit the Yestermorrow website.
What?!?!?! No photo of the dragon-shaped house?
I couldn’t find it 🙁
“$1,520 with a $50 materials fee”
Ouch!
For a small fraction of the cost, Peter King in the same state can offer you the same opportunity of learning and building a Tiny Home. He’ll even throw in free meals.
Yeah I was thinking the same thing… but you could also think of it as $133.33 a day (plus lodging).
For comparison Tumbleweed and PAD workshops are $200+ a day.
I’ve heard Peter King’s workshops are excellent and as you point out very affordable. http://vermonttinyhouses.com/
